SonoSVG is able to provide a gender scan from 16 weeks gestation. A 10 minute scan will include our profession opinion on the gender of your baby. Please note that ultrasound cannot provide 100% guarantees, however all scans are performed by a qualified Sonographer with obstetric ultrasound scanning experience.

A full bladder is sometimes helpful for this scan at 16 weeks and so we suggest that you do not empty your bladder for 1 hour prior to the appointment.

An ultrasound scan of your veins may also be called a duplex or Doppler of your veins. This test uses ultrasound to produce images of the veins in your legs. The veins carry blood from the extremities back to the heart. This test is a safe and effective way to assess there are any clots in the deep veins of your legs. These blood clots are often called a deep vein thrombosis or DVT. If there is a blood clot, the ultrasound scan can show where the clot is. The test is painless and does not use any radiation or needles. There are no risks associated with this test.

Chest x-ray uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the chest. It is used to evaluate the lungs, heart, and chest wall and may be used to help diagnose shortness of breath, persistent cough, fever, chest pain, or injury. It also may be used to help diagnose and monitor treatment for a variety of lung conditions such as pneumonia, emphysema, and cancer. Because chest x-ray is fast and easy, it is particularly useful in emergency diagnosis and treatment.

This exam requires little to no special preparation. Tell your doctor and the technologist if there is a possibility you are pregnant. Leave jewelry at home and wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to wear a gown.
